The thing that goes wrong on family trips is not the sport, it is the waiting. A week where one person has six brilliant days and everybody else has six days of a lodge lounge is a bad week, however good the shooting was.
So we ask about everybody's interests at the start, not just the person who wrote to us. Riding, towns, long lunches, wine, photography and a deliberately empty afternoon are all real answers, and we plan them with the same effort as the field days.
