Golden Dorado & Wetlands

Warm water, heavy fish and a wetland with more wildlife than most national parks. Physical, humid and completely unlike Patagonia.

Illustrative image

Dorado fishing is an ambush sport. You are casting at structure in moving brown water, and when it works the fish is on the surface before you have finished the strip. It is hard on tackle, hard on hands and, by most accounts, addictive.

The rest of the week belongs to the wetland. Boats go out early and late, and in between there is more visible wildlife than anywhere else we work — capybara, caiman, deer, and a bird list that embarrasses most of South America.

A lodge inside or at the edge of the wetland, taken for the group. Remote by design; the specific property is confirmed before anything is held.
